Thailand never ceases to amaze its visitors from around the globe. Whether it’s a quiet and relaxing vacation or one that involves lots of adventure that people are looking for, this Asian country can make any holiday very memorable.
For those wanting to go to a place that offers different types of adventure, the Koh Surin National Park is most ideal. The park features a jungle, white sandy beaches with pristine and crystal clear waters and extensive coral reef. It’s the best place to experience a quiet commune with nature away from the maddening crowd at the usual beaches.
To reach the Koh Surin National Park, one needs to take either a regular boat (slow ferry) or a speedboat from the Kuraburi pier in the Phang Nga province.
Some high-energy activities that can be enjoyed at the area include sea kayaking, diving, trekking through the jungle and doing yoga. However, one of the best ways to enjoy the beautiful marine life in the area is to simply engage in snorkeling. No need to go scuba diving as even in shallow water, visitors can easily spot colorful fish and corals and sometimes turtles.
Visiting the Sea Gypsy (Moken) Village is also a worthwhile experience. The Moken are nomadic sea people who traveled the Andaman Sea for thousands of years. Being born in the sea, they have been trained to swim and dive at an early age. Interestingly, they have the ability to see clearly underwater better than the ordinary human beings.
Accommodation within the Koh Ra island can be booked at the ecolodge although there are rooms for rent available as well at the national park headquarters and Hat Mai Ngam. The ecolodge promotes sustainable tourism and uses solar energy.
